Bollywood had been a face of Indian cinema from last many decades. But there is appropriate change in INDIAN viewers taste. On an average around 2000 films are produces & launched every year. If you discuss with any Indian about Indian films, generally he will narrate major list of Bollywood produced films. However now, there had been continuously correction in the list, South Indian movies (Tollywood) are also being added in viewers mind. This is really changing the equation. Sometime Indian Cinema seems Bollywood vs Tollywood in terms of films.

Poor quality/Old fashion of Bollywood films is making things worse. As a result, flop films are backfiring Bollywood industry. Producers are thinking twice to bet on old horses. Even demanding subjects are being rejected from the viewers. Indian consumer is bored from it & want something new & more interesting. But the demand is not fulfilled from Bollywood which is making Gap in Demand vs Supply. Other producers are excited & wanted to fill the gaps from different territory as per required demand.

Indian cinema is one of the oldest & largest film industry in the world. Based on different culture & language, viewers are divided in different regions. At first , Bombay cinema was a major contributor, but as time passes, other regional film industry are also grown. Many Politician, Cricketers, writers & other professional are also part of Indian film industry.

Indian (Cinema) films production : Bollywood

It is really surprising that Indian viewers had very high consumption power in terms of content. In year 2019, before Covid, Indian cinema, in terms of box office it ranked third in 2019, with total gross of around ₹220 billion (US$2.7 billion). Major producers of Indian films include Eros International, Dharma Productions, Aascar Films, Aashirvad Cinemas, AGS Entertainment, AVM Productions, Geetha Arts, Lyca Productions, Modern Theatres, Mythri Movie Makers, Salman Khan Films, Sun Pictures, Suresh Productions, UTV Motion Pictures, Yash Raj Films and Zee Entertainment Enterprises.

The Indian film industry, famously known as Bollywood, is the largest in the world, and has major film studios in Mumbai , Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

If we exclude the Covid scenario condition while there was Globally Panic & things were crucial and critical. Bollywood could not cover its previous fame & status. While if we consider South Indian films which is continuously growing its viewers & revenue.

Tollywood (Telugu), Kollywood (Tamil), Mollywood (Malayalam) and Sandalwood (Kannada)

Be it Bahubali , RRR, 2.0, Ponniyin Selvan, Saahu, KGF, Pushpa, Kabali etc, are increasing more producers to bet on their pathways. Engaging story, fast pace , full of action , thrill, comedy, item songs & better dialogues are pushing viewers & revenue at highest level. Many movies had been declared Mega Hits. Higher budget & multi lingual release of film is making it more professional & realistic which increases viewers experience in different territory & cultures. It means Language barrier is also uncovered to serve the content in many regions. Graphs are increasing day by day covering more volumes. Producers are focused to launch their content simultaneously in all over India in different languages for best success rate & hits.

At start, these regional film industry just started to provide content in the local language and was bound to the specific area. But as high bandwidth & better network speed covered the whole world, OTT platforms gave a good reach to other area customer. Movies were translated to their customer needs & engine started to roar.

Awards like “Dadasaheb Phalke Award”, “National Film Awards”, “Filmfare awards”, “IIFA Awards” are some famous awards which are awarded in cinema industry in different fields.
